Swim Season has officially arrived in New England. Whether you are frolicking on the beaches of Cape Cod or Cape Ann, a New England girl always wants to look and feel her best. I am one of those girls blessed with some extra assets. And while those assets do come in handy sometimes, I like to keep them under control at the beach. This is a result of an incident that occurred in the wild surf of South Beach in the town of Katama in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. Let's just say it involved me, a really strong wave, and my bikini top...or my suddenly missing bikini top. Ever since that day, the girls needed to be held in their place.

For years, the options for girls like me were big, boxy one piece "Olympic swimmer" style suits that, while they provided coverage, did not do anything for my body. I'd slap one of those babies on and feel like flipper, or better yet, a synchronized swimmer - all I needed was a lovely flower studded shower cap!

This summer, the years and years of unfashionable and less-than-sexy suits will be put behind us thanks to Old Navy's summer swim collection. The bold, bright and sassy collection, with a new body conscious line, will have you running for the malls...and then running for the nearest beach to show of your finds! When I look for a swimsuit, I like to use the following anagram to inspect my suit:

CUTE

C - Cleavage Control
U - Undeniable Sex Appeal
T - Trim, taught and/or toned
E - Excellent Support

So what if that was a rather nontraditional anagram?! It suits me well...no pun intended. Here are a couple of my must-run-to-the-store-and-buy favorites.

The Pin-Up Throw-Back

Imagine this...a floppy, wide brimmed hat catching the rays of sun. Large, round, wide-rimmed sunglasses perched on your nose. A crisp, white linen collared shirt unbuttoned and draped over your shoulders - blowing in the cool New England breeze. And this, bright jewel-toned retro-esque suit hugging you in all of the right places. Maybe if you are feeling really sassy, throw on a crimson lip. This swimsuit coupled with an old fashioned "booty tooch" will do wonders.

Here is what I love about this suit: The color, ruching, coverage and support. It's sexy and sweet all at the same time! Even more, it passes the CUTE test.

The Athletic Girly Girl

So your not a fan of being compressed and lifted? Blasphemy! Coming from a girl that likes to wear body huggers anytime she wears a dress or skirt, that is a little hard to understand. However, I do like to play some Frisbee and volleyball at the beach and a suit that offers additional range of motion with great coverage and support get the thumbs up from me!

Hair in a side braid, a nice pair of aviators, your most comfy pair of Old Navy flip flops, and this, bright tankini? Yes, please. The solid bottom and patterned top draw the eyes up to some sweet ruffles and contained assets. I love a tankini that has a tie-neck. It allows you to tighten and loosen at your leisure.

Thank you again to Old Navy for sponsoring my post. I was compensated for this post as a member of Clever Girls Collective, but the content is all my own.
